A homeowner in Caledonia, MN, was reminded it was about time to schedule their annual maintenance appointment with American Waterworks. A couple of years ago, the homeowner had the WaterGuard system installed in their home, so it was about time to have it inspected. The homeowner called our Appointment Center and set up their annual maintenance appointment with Edgar, one of our Service Technicians. After the appointment was set, Edgar traveled to the home to inspect the WaterGuard's status. Edgar tested all the products and ensured it was working properly. Since Edgar was there, the homeowner asked if he could take a look at their sunken concrete. Edgar agreed and he performed an estimate of the home's concert. Following his inspection, Edgar recommended lifting and leveling the concrete to bring it back to its original level. The homeowner agreed so the plans were sent to the office for approval. Once they were approved, they were directed to our Foreman, Ryan, and his crew. Ryan and his team traveled to the home to begin the concrete lifting and leveling process. First, the crew inserted the PolyLevel underneath the sinking concrete. The PolyLevel is a polyurethane foam injection solution that restores the appearance and safety of the concrete. The crew started by strategically drilling small holes throughout the slab. Then, the crew inserts ports into those small holes. Next, the polyurethane foam is injected beneath the concrete to fill voids and raise the slabs. Finally, the holes and control joints are sealed. Once the PolyLevel injection was finished, the crew shifted their focus to filling the cracks and replacing the joints. The crew utilized NexusPro Sealant, a silicone-based sealant for joints and cracks formulated to provide long-lasting flexibility and withstand harsh weather conditions. The crew begins by drilling, smoothing, and preparing the non-absorbent backer rod filler. Then, the NexusPro sealant is inserted in the prepared crack or control joint. Finally, the cracks are detailed with a thin layer of native sand, giving the concrete a uniform, finished appearance. The crew completed the lifting and leveling process, so they cleaned up their materials and left the home. The homeowner was impressed with our crew's work ethic and process. They then injected PolyLevel while consistently checking to ensure the slab was adjusting properly. Finally, NexusPro was applied, penetrating the concrete and permanently bonding with it, protecting it from water damage and making stains easier to remove
