Waterproofing System Installed in Madison Lake, MN Waterproofing System Installed in Madison Lake, MN

Pell J. in Madison Lake, MN had water leaking into his basement. He was concerned about the air quality in their home and the damage that the water was causing. He saw an advertisement in his local newspaper for American Waterworks, so he decided to call us for a free estimate. One of our Design Specialists went to his home to inspect his basement and design a solution. We recommended that he have our full waterproofing system installed in his basement to ensure that his basement would be permanently waterproofed. Pell liked the proposal that we presented to him, so he scheduled the installation.

Our production team started the installation by removing the concrete around the perimeter of the basement. Then, they laid the WaterGuard drainage system and installed the sump pump. The drainage system now properly guides water to the sump pump, and from there the water is pushed through the discharge line and expelled from the home. The installation took our crew one full day, and Pell will now be able to enjoy a dry basement for many years to come. He is glad he chose to invest in the protection of his home.

Job Stories From Madison Lake, MN
Bowing Basement Wall Stabilized with Anchors in Madison Lake, MN

Jessi G. in Madison Lake, MN had a cracked and bowing wall in her basement. Water had started seeping through the cracks, so she knew she needed to repair the wall and she needed to act quickly before the situation got any worse. She saw a commercial on television for American Waterworks, so she contacted us to receive a FREE estimate. One of our Design Specialists, Eric Hazelton, went to her home to inspect her foundation and design a solution. Eric recommended that we install wall anchors along the bowing wall to secure and straighten it. Jessi liked the proposal that Eric developed, so she moved forward with repairing her foundation.

Our production team installed 5 wall anchors along the wall by drilling long metal rods through the brick and into the soil. Then, they secured and tightened the rod with anchor on each end. As the wall began to straighten, the crack started to close, and water is no longer able to seep through her wall. The anchors can continue to be tightened over time, so that the stability of the wall continues to improve. Our wall anchors are backed by a lifetime warranty, so Jessi has peace of mind that she chose the best solution for her basement for the long-term.

Dangerous Levels of Radon in Madison Lake, MN

Brandon S. in Madison Lake, MN discovered the adverse effects that radon gas has on people's health and he became concerned because his home had not yet been tested. He started looking for a company to test his home, and he came across American Waterworks’ website. He was glad to see that along with concrete repair, basement waterproofing and foundation repair, we also offer radon testing and mitigation. He gave us a call and we sent one of our Design Specialists, Dustin Loftus, to his home to set up the test. 48 hours later, Dustin returned to read the results. Dustin found that their radon gas was at 5.0 pCi/L. The EPA recommends that homeowners should take corrective action if their home tests at 4.0 pCi/L or higher. Dustin explained the health risks and Brandon knew he needed to have a mitigation system installed right away.

Our radon mitigation specialists drilled a hole through the concrete in the basement to create a suction point for the gas. Then, a PVC pipe is inserted which goes up through the house and exits the home through the roof. A fan is installed at the top of the PVC pipe to ensure that the radon gas is being pushed away from the home. The post mitigation test results showed that the radon was now at only 1.8 pCi/L. The installation took one day to complete, and Brandon is glad he took action to protect his and his family’s health.
