Mike C. in North Mankato, MN had a cracked and bowing foundation wall in his basement. He contacted American Waterworks after seeing an advertisement because he was concerned about the pressure it was putting on his foundation. Our Design Specialist, Eric Hazelton, went to his home to provide him with a FREE onsite inspection and design a solution. Eric recommended that we install PowerBraces to stabilize his walls and protect his foundation. Mike liked the proposal that Eric presented to him, so he decided to move forward with repairing his foundation.

Our Foreman, Juan Pena, and his crew installed 7 PowerBraces along the bowing wall. The PowerBraces are designed to stabilize failing basement walls and provide the potential for the wall to straighten over time. The beams are covered with a zinc-coating to protect it from rusting or deteriorating. The process was less invasive than Mike thought it would be. Mike is glad he chose the right solution through American Waterworks to protect his foundation for the long-term.

Job Stories From Mankato, MN
North Mankato, MN, Radon Risk Reduced

A homeowner in North Mankato, MN, recently learned the dangers of radon. Anxious that their home had high levels, the homeowner knew they needed to find a permanent solution. Knowing they couldn't repair the issue themselves, the homeowner began looking into "radon mitigation and how it works". After sifting through several solutions, the homeowner came across our impressive radon before-and-after photos. Knowing we would provide the best solution, the homeowner knew that we were the ideal company for their project. Since they were already on our website, the homeowner decided to sign up for their FREE estimate. Once the estimate was set, we sent one of our Design Specialists, Brad, to the home to take a closer look. During the inspection, Brad started a radon test. While waiting for the radon test to complete, Brad inspected the exterior and interior of the home to find the best placement. Once the test was completed, it confirmed the home's levels were alarmingly high. To lower these levels, Brad recommended installing a Radon Mitigation System in the home. Knowing this was their best plan of action, the homeowner decided to go ahead with the recommendations. Next, Brad passed the proposal to our Logistics team to build and schedule the project. Once the project details were ironed out, our Foreman, Dakota, and his crew traveled to the home to begin the installation. First, Dakota and his crew started by installing the Radon Mitigation System on the interior of the home. Each of our Radon Mitigation Systems is designed differently, depending on the structure of the home. The forces need to be redirected from the "stack effect". Then, the radon gas is redirected and vented away from your home. Next, the radon entry points are sealed, and the final system checklist is performed. After Dakota and his crew installed the system, they cleaned up their materials and left the home. The homeowner was delighted with the excellent work completed by the crew. The homeowner was given peace of mind knowing their radon risk was eliminated. If you are worried about the radon levels in your home, sign up for your FREE estimate today!

Uneven Garage Apron Lifted in Mankato, MN

A homeowner in Mankato, MN had noticed that his garage apron had begun sinking causing the area to become uneven. Knowing the issue would only continue to worsen, the homeowner decided to contact us to schedule his FREE concrete estimate.

In a couple of weeks, our Design Specialist, Tony B., arrived at the home to inspect the area and provide the best solution for the homeowner. During the inspection, Tony explained that soil washout is one of the most common causes of sinking slabs. Luckily, we have the right solution, PolyLevel. Our PolyLevel is our elite foam expanding formula designed to accurately lift sinking slabs. After some consideration, the homeowner happily agreed to Tony’s recommendation and decided to move forward with the project.

In a couple of months, our Foreman, Patrick B., and his crew arrived at the home for the installation. The crew began by drilling small 3/8-inch holes into the slabs and inserting the injection ports. PolyLevel is then injected beneath the slabs, filling in the voids and causing it to lift. Once it has been lifted to the desired level, the crew seals the holes with cement.

Sunken Walkway Lifted in Mankato, MN

A homeowner in Mankato, MN, was concerned that his uneven walkway would pose as a tripping hazard for guests and family. He decided to search for "walkway repair near me" and found our website. Impressed with our before and after photos, he decided to schedule his FREE estimate.

One of our Design Specialists arrived at the home on the scheduled date and assessed the walkway. He explained to the homeowner that an uneven walkway is a common issue due to soil washout. When it heavily rains or floods, water moves through the ground under the concrete slabs. It then washes away the supporting soils, eventually leading to voids and spaces beneath the slab. As the empty spaces grow larger, it causes the concrete to sink. For this reason, our Design Specialist recommended our PolyLevel to lift the concrete. The homeowner was grateful for his explanation and decided to move forward with the project.

In a couple of months, our Foreman, Sam K., and his crew arrived at the home to install the PolyLevel. They began by drilling small holes into the slab and installing the injection ports. Once those were installed, they inject PolyLevel beneath the slab. Once the concrete slab has been lifted the crew ensures that the concrete is leveled before sealing the small holes with concrete. After the crew was done with everything, they cleaned up their equipment and left the home.

Now, our customer can have peace of mind that his walkway is no longer a tripping hazard! Is your walkway uneven? Click HERE to schedule your FREE estimate!

Water Leaks in Basement Fixed in Mankato, MN

A homeowner in Mankato, MN, noticed water damage on his basement floor. Unsure of the cause, the homeowner knew he needed to find a proper solution. The homeowner found us, American Waterworks, through television ads. He looked into our company and was impressed with our reviews. Soon after, he contacted us to schedule his FREE estimate, and we sent our Design Specialist, Dylan W. When Dylan arrived at the home, he began his thorough investigation and answered any questions the homeowner had. Dylan informed the homeowner that he had water damage due to hydrostatic pressure. When the soil surrounding the foundation gets wet, the weight of the water exerts pressure, forcing it into cracks, gaps, and holes, eventually leading into the basement. To fix this issue, Dylan recommended our WaterGuarda drain system installed at the perimeter of your basement to catch water and drains directly to your sump pump. The homeowner was thankful for Dylan's explanation and agreed to his plans.

In about a month, our Foreman, Juan B., and his crew arrived at the home and installed 20ft of our WaterGuard. The WaterGuard is installed by hammering the floor around the perimeter. A set of rocks is placed inside the hole, and the WaterGuard is placed on top. This is to prevent any clogging, and once the WaterGuard is secured, it is topped with concrete. Once everything was installed, the crew cleaned up their equipment and left the home. Now, our customer felt relieved and satisfied by the excellent work completed by the crew.

To ensure the problem wouldn't happen again, he went online to look up "Mankato concrete contractors" and find a solution. The American Waterworks company website showed up and he quickly became interested in our FREE no-obligation estimates, so he signed up for his own. After we got the homeowner's request, we sent one of our Design Specialists, Mitch Strain, to the home to inspect the trip hazard and driveway and see what could be done to fix it. Mitch explained that the concrete had sunk so much because the soil underneath it had settled and that our PolyLevel foam could combat this problem by lifting the slabs back up to be level again. The homeowner agreed to the plans, and our Foreman, Patrick Burnes, and his crew later went to the site to carry out the installations. The crew first drilled small pencil-sized holes in the concrete and inserted ports in the holes to reach the empty space below. Then, the carried out the PolyLevel injections in the driveway and the slab in front of the side garage door until they were all level again. Finally, the crew filled in the holes and joints with NexusPro sealant and spread some native sand on top for a smooth final look. The homeowner was very happy with the new look of his driveway and to have the trip hazard gone for good.

Wesley was worried that this problem may worsen over time and called the Appointment Center at American Waterworks to schedule his FREE estimate with one of our Design Specialists. Once the appointment was set and ready to go, our Design Specialist then attended Wesley's home and began to conduct a thorough home inspection to provide a solution that is best for the foundation of the home and prevent any other issues from arising. Wesley liked the proposal and proceeded to set a date of installation.

Our Foreman, Juan Pena, along with his production crew then went to Wesley's home and began the installation process. Dangerous Levels of Radon Mitigated in Mankato, MN

Anne L. and her husband in Mankato, MN had recently purchased a home and their realtor recommended that they have the home tested for radon before they move in. After learning that radon is the #1 cause of lung cancer for non-smokers and kills over 21,000 people each year, they started looking for a company to test their home, so they would not be putting their health at risk. Their realtor recommended using American Waterworks, so they gave us a call and we sent our one of our Design Specialists, Jeremy Radtke, to set up the test. 48 hours later, Jeremy came back to read the test results. He discovered that their house did in fact have high levels of radon. Jeremy recommended that they have our radon mitigation system installed as soon as possible and they agreed.

Our radon mitigation specialists drilled a hole through the concrete in the basement to create a suction point for the gas. Then, a PVC pipe is inserted which goes up through the house and exits the home through the roof. A fan is installed at the top of the PVC pipe to ensure that the radon gas is being pushed away from the home. The post radon mitigation test showed a drastic reduction in radon gas, and they were relieved that their health would not be compromised. The installation only took one day to complete, and now they can rest easy knowing that their home is protected.
