In Spooner, WI, a homeowner had noticed that one of the areas on their garage floor began sinking, causing a large form to crack and the slab to slope down. Knowing the issue would worsen and cause additional safety risks in the future, they knew the issue should be addressed as soon as possible. With their annual maintenance coming up with American Waterworks, they knew it was best to address their concerns.

On the day of the appointment, our Service Technician, Kyle H, arrived at the home to perform the annual maintenance. First, took a close look at the products we installed, ensuring they were working properly. After testing the humidity levels, tightening the GeoLock, and ensuring there were no leaks coming into the basement, Kyle went to the garage to take a look at the homeowner's concern. He measured how much the garage floor had sloped and noted the signs of settlement he found on one side of the garage. One of the most common causes of structural settlement is incompetent soil. As the weather shifts, so does the soil keeping the structure up. Over time, as this continues and the soil expands and contracts, the structure would begin settling. After reporting his findings, Kyle worked closely with the homeowner on creating a tailored solution that would address the issue they wanted to fix. First, he recommended lifting the garage floor that had settled using PolyLevel, our poly foam expanding solution injected beneath the sunken concrete to quickly and effectively lift them. This is a fast solution that helps avoid slab replacement. Next, he recommended lifting the part of the structure that had settled with Helical Piers, which are mechanically drilled into deep competent soil and attached to the foundation of the garage to bring stability. Happy to have a long-term solution, the homeowner decided to move forward with the project.

In about a month, our Foreman, Troy J., arrived at the home to lift and level the concrete slab. They began by drilling small holes into the troubled slabs. Then, PolyLevel is injected to fill in voids in the soil. Once the slabs have been lifted, the crew ensures it is level for sealing the holes. In about a week, our Foreman Victor S., and his crew arrived to install the Helical Piers along the garage. They began by digging out the soil next to the foundation. Then, the Helical Piers were drilled into the soil. Once they reach hard rock or competent soil, they are attached to the footing of the foundation. Lastly, trenches are backfilled with soil. Bowing Foundation Walls Repaired in Spooner, WI

Our Foreman, Jesus Covarrubias, and his crew installed seven wall anchors along the two bowing walls. They dug holes outside of the home to line up with where the wall anchors needed to be installed. Next, the crew drilled the rods through the wall and then tightened the plates on either end to secure the anchor. Lastly, the crew filled back the holes they dug and cleaned up. The process took a couple of days, but our wall anchors are backed by a lifetime warranty, so Joseph will benefit from our foundation repair system for many years to come.
