Solution
In less than a week, our Design Specialist, Kevin B., arrived at the home for the inspection. During the inspection, he used our advanced tools to see how far the foundation has shifted and determined the areas that needed to be stabilized. He also explained how hydrostatic pressure is one of the most common causes of a shifting foundation. Hydrostatic pressure is pressure exerted by a liquid due to the force of gravity. When it rains and water pools around the home, it has nowhere to go but down. When that pressure exceeds what the foundation can handle, it is common to see cracking, bowing, and shearing of the walls. After reporting his findings to the homeowner, Kevin began working on a detailed solution. He recommended installing GeoLock, our wall anchor system that redirects pressure against the foundation to stable soil. After looking over the proposal, the homeowner happily agreed to the recommendations and decided to move forward with the project.
In about a month, our Foreman, Jeromy A., and his crew arrived at the home for the installation. The crew began by digging a hole several feet away from the foundation. Then, the earth anchor is placed and attached to the interior wall plate. Once these are connected by a small steel pole that runs through the soil, they are tightened. The crew successfully installed 6 GeoLock anchors to stabilize the foundation.
