Tim W. in Onalaska, WI contacted American Waterworks because he was interested in insulating and encapsulating his crawl space. He knew the space was inefficient and that he could be saving money on his energy bill. We sent one of our Design Specialists, Dustin Loftus, who met with Tim, evaluated the situation, and proposed a permanent solution.
Our Foreman, Cory Sather, and his production crew installed drainage matting, TerraBlock insulation, and our CleanSpace vapor barrier along the floor of the crawl space. Then, they installed our spray foam rim joist insulation and Foamax insulation panels along the walls. These products work together to keep moisture, pests, and potential mold growth out. They also help reduce Tim’s energy bill by making sure energy is not lost through that space. Tim was pleased with the results and happy his crawl space will remain a dry, healthier and more energy efficient space.
A homeowner in Ettrick, WI was suffering from a wet crawl space and damage to his foundation in his crawl space. Design Specialist Dustin Loftus was able to develop a solution to his problem. Shonna L. in Rollingstone, MN had water seeping into her basement and her old sump pump was not able to keep up with the amount of water coming in. Her basement had become a damp, musty and unlivable space. She was tired of dealing with a wet basement, so she started to research waterproofing contactors in her area. She found the American Waterworks’ website and was impressed by our extensive waterproofing knowledge. She had us out to her home to look at her basement and provide her with a free estimate. After inspecting her basement, our Design Specialist, Dustin Loftus, was able to develop a thorough and unique plan to waterproof her basement. She was pleased with his proposal, so they set a date for our production crew to install the waterproofing system.
Our production team started the installation by removing the old sump pump and the concrete around the perimeter of her basement where the WaterGuard drainage system needed to be laid. They installed our TripleSafe sump pump, which is our most reliable sump pump. The WaterGuard properly guides the water leaking into her basement to the sump pump. Then, they replaced the concrete over the drainage system and around the sump pump. From there, the water is pumped through the discharge line and expelled from the home. Our waterproofing system is backed by a lifetime warranty, so Shonna can rest easy knowing her basement will always be protected. She is glad she chose to invest in the long-term protection of her home.

Barbara B in Eyota, MN learned about the dangers of radon gas. She had not yet had her home tested and once she learned that radon causes 15% of the world's lung cancer cases and kills over 20,000 people each year, she wanted to get her home tested right away.
She contacted American Waterworks and we sent our Design Specialist, Dustin Loftus, to her home to set up a radon test kit. The results showed that she did have high levels of radon and we recommended that we install a radon mitigation system to ensure that the majority of the radon entering her home would be sucked through a PVC pipe and discharged from her home.
Our crew drilled a hole through the floor in the basement to insert a PVC pipe and create a suction point for the radon gas. Then the gas is vented through the pipe and out of the home. A fan is also installed at the top of the PVC pipe where the gas is vented out to ensure that the gas is pushed away from the home. Barbara now has peace of mind knowing that her family is protected from this dangerous gas.

Lori B. in Rochester, MN contacted American Waterworks after realizing that the foundation of her home was failing. She wanted to receive a FREE estimate, so we sent one of our Design Specialists, Dustin Loftus, to inspect her home and provide her with a solution. Dustin developed a thorough plan to permanently restore her foundation.
Using wall anchors, our production crew drilled small holes through the failing block foundation and into the soil surrounding the home. In order to straighten the wall, they had to dig out the soil pushing against the foundation. They secured each end of the metal rods with anchor plates and tightened them as far as they would go. This process gradually straightened the foundation wall, and permanently secured it. Having wall anchors installed saved this foundation from failing altogether and saved the homeowner from the expenses of a full foundation replacement.

Louis A. in Mason City, IA previously had some waterproofing work done by American Waterworks and was impressed with the process and the results. After hearing that we also offer radon mitigation, he decided to have his home tested. Unfortunately, the radon levels in his home came back high. The EPA recommends mitigation if the radon levels of a home are at or above 4 pCi/L. Louis wanted to take care of the issue as soon as possible and moved forward with the radon mitigation system proposed to him by our Design Specialist, Dustin Loftus.
Our Foreman, Dakota Merchlewitz, installed the radon mitigation system by creating a suction point through the concrete floor in the basement and inserting a PVC pipe. The pipe runs up the basement wall and out of the home. Then, he installed a fan along the pipe to ensure the radon gas is pushed up and away from the living space. The gas is then expelled from the home above the roof. Louis was impressed with the quick installation, and his glad he took the necessary steps to protect his health!
A homeowner in Cannon Falls, MN requested that American Waterworks check their crawlspace for the presence of Radon after reading up on the side effects of this toxic gas.
After receiving the news that their test came back at 8.4 pCi/L, the Shepards decided it was best to encapsulate their crawlspace with a vapor barrier known as CleanSpace.
The CleanSpace barrier will block most of the movement of radon from the soil into the crawlspace and our radon mitigation system will reduce any of the remaining presence of the gas that is entering through cracks in the foundation, plumbing, etc.
Ms. Eastland had discovered her home was exposing her to high levels of radon gas, almost 3x the acceptable limit. In order to properly mitigate the gas from her home, American Waterworks needed to seal off the dirt crawlspace located on the North side of her basement. By combining our CleanSpace vapor barrier and SilverGlo wall insulation systems, American Waterworks was able to create a suction point in the crawl space to pull the radon from within the home and expel it outside the house.
After purchasing their Forest City, IA home, Matt & Jenni decided to contact American Waterworks to have a new sump pump installed in their basement after realizing the DIY version wasn't keeping up with the demands of their home. American Waterworks was a no-brainer for these two, as our Team had previously installed our Geo-Lock Foundation Wall Anchor reinforcement system in the home back in 2013.
