6 Reasons Home Owners Should Test for Radon in the Winter

Reasons Why Homeowners Should Test For Radon In Their Home:

1. All doors and windows are closed so the results are more accurate.

2. In the winter, cold weather makes people stay inside more often, so they're consistently breathing in indoor air.

3. When the ground around a home is frozen and/or covered with ice, the radon gets trapped in there.

4. When the heat is on in the house, indoor air pressure increases, which pulls more radon from the soil.

5. In the summer time, our windows and screen doors are open, so the results are not as valid.

6. In the spring, fall, and summer, we don't have the heat on nearly as much as in the winter, so it doesn't pull as much radon from the ground.

Any levels that are higher than that are much more dangerous when it comes to vulnerability. The EPA says that the chance of getting lung cancer goes up about 16% per every 2.7 PCi/L.
