The Importance of Annual Maintenance

Overview

Allow us to find your system’s problems before they find you first. Dirt, sediment, and waste build-up in your system can cause failures that lead to flooding in your basement, water seepage, or cracked foundation walls over time. Your waterproofing and foundation repair systems in your home need to be maintained just like the engine in your car. Getting your annual maintenance is not just an appointment that you have every year – It protects your investment, prevents unseen frustrations, and creates and keeps peace of mind.

At American Waterworks, we offer annual maintenances for basement waterproofing, foundation repair, and crawl space encapsulation. Our Service Manager, Travis Devlaeminick, says that late fall to early spring is the recommended timeframe for our technicians to make sure your system is functioning to its fullest capacity. “You want to schedule your maintenance towards the end of winter or early spring, so we can prepare your system for the workload that it will take on when the snow melts,” said Travis.

During annual maintenance, our Service Technicians perform a variety of different tasks depending on the design of the system. Examples being, fully cleaning and maintaining the customer’s waterproofing system, or benchmarking and confirming that the customer’s foundation repair products are working as designed. We take note of the system’s progression and make sure the customer is comfortable with their system while answering all questions they may have.

Travis says his advice for our customers is to follow any recommendations that a Service Technician may give you. Maintenances are a good time to catch things before they fail, while they are still under the manufacturer’s warranty. “One of my biggest fears is when a customer’s sump pump could have been covered under warranty and replaced, but we don’t find out until it's too late and the homeowner is now dealing with a wet basement,” says Travis. “If you are not proactive, your system will make you reactive.”

To get your annual maintenance scheduled, you can call, message, or fill out the annual maintenance form on our website.
