Sinking Concrete Slabs Lifted in Onalaska, WI
Challenge
A homeowner in Onalaska, WI, had grown concerned that his back porch was a trip hazard. Realizing that he has his annual maintenance coming up, he thought it would be the perfect time to bring it up and get the issue fixed.
Solution
On the day of the appointment, our Service Technician, Jack N., arrived at the home to test the sump pump and ensure that the dehumidifier is working. He also took a look around the basement for signs of water intrusions before inspecting the porch. During the inspection, he noticed signs of soil washout. He explained to the homeowner that soil washout is the process of water moving through the ground and washing away the supporting soils, keeping the slabs upright. To fix this issue, Jack recommended installing PolyLevel, our waterproof foam expanding solution that accurately lifts sinking slabs, and NexusPro, our silicone-based sealant to seal the joints along the center. The homeowner happily agreed to Jack's recommendations and scheduled the installation date.
In about a month, our Foreman, Sam K., and his crew arrived at the home for the installation. The crew began by drilling small holes into the concrete slabs. PolyLevel is then injected beneath the slab, filling in the voids. Once the slabs have been lifted to the desired height, the crew seals the holes and applies NexusPro.
