High Radon Levels in Moorhead, MN Controlled
Challenge
In Moorhead, MN, a homeowner came upon a blog post and learned how radon gas is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the US. It comes from the breakdown of soil beneath the home and increases the risk for lung cancer when inhaled over a long period of time. Concerned their family was unknowingly breathing in the toxic gay, the homeowner purchased a radon testing kit. After a couple of days, the test results were above 4pCi/L, which is the recommended action level for radon by the EPA. The homeowner quickly took action and contacted us to schedule their FREE estimate.
Solution
In less than a week, our Design Specialist, James N., arrived at the home for the inspection. During the inspection, he took a close look at the layout of the home and worked closely with the homeowner on the best placement of our radon mitigation system. He recommended having our fan installed on the exterior of the home and having it connect to the concrete floor in the basement. This is designed this way so that our system could suction our the radon-rich gas and expel it above the roofline. Happy to find a long term solution, the homeowner decided to move forward with the project.
In about a month, our Foreman, Jackson P., arrived at the home for the installation. He began by drilling a hole through the concrete floor in the basement. Then, PVC piping is installed and connected to the exterior of the home. From there, the fan is installed and additional piping is attached to go above the roofline. Once the installation was completed, the crew cleaned up their equipment and left the home.
