Hight Radon in Worthington, MN Gets Mitigated
Challenge
In Worthington, MN, a homeowner recently came upon an article that went over radon gas. They learned that radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that forms from the breakdown of soil beneath the home. When inhaled for a long period of time, it increases the risk of lung cancer. After learning this, the homeowner became concerned that their family was unknowingly breathing in the toxic gas, and they decided to purchase a radon testing kit. After a couple of days, the test results were above 4pCi/L, which is the recommended action level by the EPA. Knowing they must have the radon levels in their home controlled, the homeowner began looking into radon mitigation installers in the area and found us. After browsing our website and becoming impressed by the awards we achieved and 5-star reviews, the homeowner knew we would be the right contractor for their project and soon contacted us to schedule their FREE estimate.
Solution
In less than a week, our Design Specialist, Tony B., arrived at the home to provide a thorough inspection. During the inspection, he took a close look at the layout of the home and worked closely with the homeowner on the best placement of our radon mitigation system. He recommended having the fan installed on the exterior of the home and having it connect to the sump pump in the basement. This system is designed this way so that our fan can suction out the radon-rich gas before it can enter the home. Happy with the proposal, the homeowner decided to move forward with the project.
In about a month, our Foreman, Dakota M., and his crew arrived at the home for the installation. The crew began by installing piping through the sump system and extending it to the exterior of the home to create the extraction point. Then, a fan is installed at the extraction point, and additional piping is installed from the fan to the roofline. After the successful installation of our radon mitigation system, the crew cleaned up their equipment and left the home.
