Cashton, WI Radon Mitigation Installation
Challenge
In Cashton, WI, a homeowner came upon an article that went over radon gas. The homeowner learned that radon is a toxic gas that comes from the breakdown of soil beneath the home. When inhaled over a long period of time, it increases the risk of lung cancer. Concerned their family was unknowingly breathing in the gas, the homeowner decided to test their home for radon. After a couple of days, the test results were above 4pCi/L, and the homeowner quickly took action by contacting us and scheduling their FREE estimate.
Solution
In less than a week, our Design Specialist, Romeo V., arrived at the home for the inspection. During the inspection, he took a close look at the layout of the home and worked closely with the homeowner on the best placement for our radon mitigation system. He recommended installing the fan at the exterior of the home and having it connect to the sump pump in the basement. This is designed this way so that our system can suction out the radon gas from below and expel it above the roofline before it can enter the home. Happy with the solution, the homeowner decided to move forward with the project.
In about a month, one of our crews arrived at the home for the installation. They began by drilling into the sump pump and installing piping, connecting it to the exterior of the home to create an extraction point. After this is done, the crew installs the fan at the extraction point, at the exterior of the home, and adds additional piping to make it go above the roofline. After the successful installation, the crew cleaned up their equipment and left the home.
