High Radon in Saint Paul, MN Mitigated
Challenge
In Saint Paul, MN, a homeowner had come upon an article that went over the dangers of radon gas. The homeowner learned that radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that comes from the breakdown of soil beneath the home. When inhaled over a long period of time, it increases the risk of lung cancer. That is why it is extremely important to test the radon levels in your home every 2-5 years. Knowing it was time to test the radon levels in their home, the homeowner purchased a radon testing kit. After a couple of days, the test results were above 4pCi/L., and the homeowner contacted us to schedule their FREE estimate.
Solution
In less than a week, our Design Specialist, Mitch S., arrived at the home for the inspection. During the inspection, Mitch took a close look at the layout of the home, determining the best placement of our radon mitigation system. Mitch recommended having the fan installed in the attic of the garage and having it connect to the concrete floor in the basement. This is designed this way so that our system can suction our the radon gas and expel it above the roofline before it can enter the home. Happy with the recommendation, the homeowner decided to move forward with the project.
In about a month, our Foreman, Dakota M., and his crew arrived at the home for the installation. They began by drilling a hole into the concrete floor in the basement and installing piping to have it go through the garage, creating an extraction point. After this, additional piping is installed through the garage so it goes through the attic. From the attic, the fan is installed and connected to the roofline. After the successful installation, the crew cleaned up their equipment and left the home.
