Ryan proposed several options that would solve the stabilization issues and the homeowners picked the one best fit for them. Once the plans were approved, a crew was assigned to complete the project. Our Foreman, Matt, and his crew arrived at the home to begin the stabilization project. First, the crew made sure the basement area was clear before installing the SmartJacks. Once the basement was ready, the crew installed eight SmartJacks around the basement. The SmartJacks system provides solid support for sagging and undersized beams, restoring stability and straightness to sagging floor joists in a home. Furthermore, SmartJacks can be adjusted over time to provide additional straightening and leveling action if needed. Next, the crew installed a supplemental beam in between two SmartJacks to provide further support and stabilization. Once the supplemental beam was set into place, the crew was able to clean up their site and move on to the next project. Our production team installed the radon mitigation system by inserting a PVC pipe through her sump pump, which creates a suction point for the gas. The PVC pipe runs up the house and through the roof. There is a fan installed at the top of the PVC pipe to ensure that the gas is pushed out and away from the home. After each installation, we do a second radon test to ensure that the radon mitigation system is working properly and expelling the radon from the home. The second test reported that Naomi’s home now had significantly lower levels of radon. She is glad that her home is now protected from this harmful, radioactive gas, and that she took action to protect her and her family’s health.
