High Levels of Radon Mitigated in Sanborn, MN

Kayla L. in Sanborn, MN had her home tested for radon when she learned how dangerous radon is and the health implications it can cause. The results showed that she had 15.1 pCi/L of radon, which is high. The EPA recommends mitigation of radon in a home is at 4 pCi/L, so she wanted to have this issue taken care of right away. Her friends and family recommended that she call American Waterworks to receive a free estimate. We sent a Design Specialist to her home right away to create a unique mitigation system to best fit her home.

Our production crew started the installation by creating a suction point through the sump pump for the PVC pipe. Then, they ran the piping up the basement wall, through the wall to the outside of the home, and up to the roof. We installed a fan in the piping on the outside of the home to ensure the radon gas is pushed out and away from the home. Because of the installation, she has dramatically reduced her risk of getting lung cancer by installing our radon mitigation system. She contacted us after the installation to let us know how impressed she was and that she is glad she chose American Waterworks to restore her home.

Water now properly flows through the drainage system into the sump pump. From there, the water is pushed through the discharge line and expelled from the home. Brian was so pleased with the work of our crew, and he is thrilled he can enjoy a dry, healthier basement now!

Sump Pump Installed in Milroy, MN

When a drainage system is installed in your home, the sump pump is the main thing that prevents the basement from flooding. If you do not have or cannot count on your sump pump system, then you most likely will encounter a wet basement.

A resident of Milroy, MN was in need of a new sump pump after water continuously invading their basement. They got in contact with American Waterworks because they knew of one of our employees. They got a FREE estimate scheduled with our Design Specialist to inspect the basement and decide where to place the sump pump. After a thorough inspection, the resident decided to go with our SuperSump Plus M53 Sump Pump System, which is designed to keep basements clean and dry for elongated periods of time. The resident signed our proposal and got a date scheduled for the sump pump installation.

Our Foreman and his crew started the installation by jackhammering out the concrete, forming a hole. Inside the hole, our crew installed the sump basket, followed by the two pumps and the discharge line. The purpose of the discharge line is to drain the water away from the home. To complete the installation, our team filled the open-floor gaps with rock and applied new concrete over them. The resident was thrilled with the completed project!

SmartJack Foundation Stabilization in Morgan, MN

We recently completed a job in Morgan, MN, where John was dealing with foundation issues all stemming from an unstable basement. When one area of your house is unstable, the ripple effects can be felt throughout the rest of the home. So when John got in touch with us, we knew acting fast would be in the best interest of him and his home. John called in and scheduled his FREE estimate with our Service Coordinators, relaying his concerns. Within two weeks, our Design Specialist, Ryan, was out to the property to do a full investigation to diagnose the problem. Sure enough, Ryan found the problem to be bowing wood on the ceiling of the basement, causing uneven floors on the main level. He recommended John invest in our supplemental beams as well as our SmartJack system. This system provides solid support for sagging beams, restoring stability to sagging floor joints over time. As the house continues to settle into the foundation, John can have us back out to tighten the system to make sure the stability of his home is never in question again. Our Foreman, Gabriel, and his dedicated team went out to the property to install six sets of our SmartJacks that were strategically placed throughout the basement level of the home to give John the most stability possible.

If this problem sounds similar to something you're experiencing, get in contact with us today to schedule your FREE estimate so you can get back to worrying about the things that matter!

Water Intrusion Risk In Wanda, MN

Following a wet winter, a homeowner in Wanda, MN, realized her basement was not properly waterproofed. Knowing the risk of summer showers, the homeowner decided to search for a solution. After seeing all of American Waterworks' wonderful reviews, the homeowner decided to sign up for our FREE estimate. We sent out one of our Design Specialists, Ryan, to complete the estimate. Once he completed the comprehensive inspection, Ryan suggested that the homeowner additional waterproofing precautions needed to take place. The homeowner agreed to Ryan's suggestions and the installation began.

Our Foreman, Lane, and his crew arrived at the home and began digging trenches around the perimeter of the basement. After the channel is dug, the crew drills tiny holes into the footing of the foundation. Next, the crew secures the WaterGuard in the channels. The WaterGuard system is an underground drain that collects water from basement walls and prevents water clogs. Once the WaterGuard is secured, the crew covers the WaterGuard with rocks and cement. Following the installation of the WaterGuard, the crew focus shifted to the installation of the TripleSafe Sump Pump. The TripleSafe Sump Pump has three levels of protection to solve all water issues a homeowner may experience and has a backup battery that will keep pumps draining any extra water buildup. The crew placed in TripleSafe Sump Pump in place of the prior sump pump and connected the water lines. After the crew completed, they promptly cleaned the work site and left. The homeowners were glad that their basement was properly waterproof and provided with additional protection. American Waterworks is happy to help another family keep their home dry.
