A homeowner from Winona, MN, got in touch with us after her basement began taking on water after a hard rain. She signed up for her FREE estimate, and several weeks later, our Design Specialist, Ryan K, was out at the home.
Ryan got right to work assessing the basement. When he finished, he was ready to make his recommendations. First, Ryan wanted to use our WaterGuard perimeter drain. This unique French drain gets installed below the basement floor but atop the footing of the foundation, keeping it out of the 'mud zone' where other drains of its nature tend to clog. Ryan explained that this drain works to collect any water coming up through the floor, giving it a channel to flow freely to a disposal site. During Ryan's inspection, he noticed that the basement lacked a means of disposing of the unwanted water, so he recommended our TripleSafe sump pump. This powerful pump is the most reliable in our lineup, offering three levels of protection for both your basement and your peace of mind. The homeowner agreed with his recommendations and decided to schedule the job for several weeks later.
On the day of the project, our Foreman, Victor S, led his team through the successful installation of 20ft of WaterGuard and 1 TripleSafe sump. Now, our customer can enjoy the rain without wondering if it will end up in her basement!
A homeowner from Winona, MN, had been listening to the radio when she heard a warning about radon gas. She knew very little about the dangers that radon gas can pose to a household. She decided that it was better to be safe than sorry, and vowed to find a radon mitigation company to test her home. When she found our website, she signed up for one of our FREE estimates, and several weeks later, our Design Specialist, Nate B, was headed out to the home.
When Nate arrived, he began his inspection by placing a charcoal radon test on the lowest level of the home. Nate explained to the homeowner that this test is comprised of an airtight container with activated charcoal being opened in the home and radon in the air absorbed into the charcoal granules, giving our team an accurate reading of the radon within the home. Nate went on to say that, should the results return higher than 4 pCi/L, he would strongly urge the homeowner to consider installing a radon mitigation system. He explained that a typical radon mitigation system consists of a large-diameter plastic pipe that connects the air beneath your foundation to the outdoors. An in-line fan sucks radon-rich air from beneath your foundation and expels this hazardous air to the exterior. Instead of entering your basement or other living space area through numerous gaps and cracks in the foundation, radon gas is extracted from beneath your foundation before it can permeate into interior space. The homeowner liked Adam's approach but decided to wait until the results returned to make a choice. A few short days later, the results returned at 8 pCi/L, double the levels recommended by the EPA. The homeowner called Adam and the two worked together to find a day for our team to come back to install the system.
Several weeks later, our Foreman, Dakota M, was headed to the home. Dakota and his team were able to seamlessly place the radon system in the home, successfully restoring our customer's peace of mind in the air circulating the home!
A Winona, MN, homeowner had been keeping an eye on his basement wall for some time now. He had been aware of a large crack running the length of one of the walls and was ready to find a solution. He took to the internet to search for 'structural foundation repair near me' and quickly found our website. He was impressed with the other foundation repair jobs we had completed in his area and decided to claim his FREE estimate. Several weeks later, our Design Specialist, Michel R, was headed out to the home.
Michel's inspection was scheduled for 3 hours, during which time he inspected the basement, the basement walls, and the exterior of the home. When he finished, he met with the homeowner to deliver his recommendations and answer any questions he had. Michel began by saying that foundation walls are designed to withstand loads from the top, not the side. So when the pressure on the side of a wall exceeds what it can withstand, homeowners will commonly see cracking, bowing, sliding in at the bottom of the wall, and/or tiling inward at the top. Michel reassured the homeowner that while the diagnosis might seem a bit scary, he had just the solution to fix the problem: our PowerBrace system. Michel explained that these steel I-beams will stabilize the wall in its current position without any further adjustments. Over time, the PowerBraces can be tightened to make bowing or tilting walls straighter and more vertical. The homeowner loved the idea of having a system that could move through the home's various stages of life and signed on the spot.
On the day of the project, our Foreman, Diego B, and his team successfully installed 2 PowerBraces on the problem wall, restoring our customer's trust in her home!
