Once the estimate was finalized, the homeowner awaited the arrival of Brady, one of our Design Specialists. Brady arrived at the home and started his thorough investigation of the basement. Next, the crew shifted their focus to taking out the old sump pump and replacing it with the SuperSump+. Then, the crew attached CleanSpace to the unfinished basement walls. Finally, the crew completed the project by installing an Aprilaire E100. As soon as all the products were secured, the crew cleaned up their materials and left the home. Humid Crawl Space Gets Sealed in Calmar, IA

A homeowner from Calmar, IA, was noticing an odd phenomenon around his home. At times, a foul odor could be detected wafting through the air of the home. Try as he might, the homeowner could not pin down the source of the odor. After speaking with neighbors, he realized the issue might be coming from his below-ground crawl space. The homeowner didn't know much about crawl space upkeep, so he took to the internet to find a crawl space repair specialist near Calmar, IA. When he found American Waterworks, he was pleasantly surprised by our digital footprint, and decided to schedule his FREE estimate.

Several weeks later, our Design Specialist, Brady S, stopped out at the home to see what could be done. Brady got down in the crawl space to complete his thorough inspection, after which he met with the homeowner to discuss the best path forward. Brady began by explaining that the homeowner was correct to assume his crawl space was to blame for the odor. Brady explained that he found evidence of water intrusion, and would recommend crawl space encapsulation to fix the issue. Crawl space encapsulation requires several products to properly defend the space. First, drainage matting is laid down on the floor of the space. This dimpled mat works to provide a channel for water to flower freely through to a disposal site. Next, our CleanSpace is applied to the floors and walls of the crawl space. This 100% plastic vapor barrier stops moisture from passing through floors and porous concrete walls. The homeowner agreed, and he and Brady worked together to find the best time for the installation.

When all was said and done, the homeowner was thrilled to know his musty crawl space was a worry of the past!
