A business owner from Fairmont, MN, was facing a serious issue with his basement. Whenever it rained, he could see water entering the space through holes in the wall, slowly running down the wall and leaving him with a headache. First, Ryan recommended our TrenchDrain system, explaining that the TrenchDrain resembles half of a basement drainage pipe, with a grated opening fitted snugly on top. A homeowner in Fairmont, MN, noticed that his home was taking longer than normal to heat the home and was unsure of the reason. He decided to look into it and learned that one of the issues that could be causing this is a poorly insulated crawl space. Our Design Specialist, Lance S., arrived at the home in a couple of weeks to assess the crawl space, answer any questions, and provide the best solution for the homeowner. During the inspection, Lance explained that one of the common causes of high moisture levels in a crawl space is dirt floors. Having a dirt floor in your crawl space means that your home is not separated from the earth, causing insects, pets, moisture, and mold to easily enter the home. For this reason, Lance recommended CleanSpace, our vapor wall barrier that prevents water from permeating through the floors and walls, Drainage Matting, which creates a drainage space and thermal break between the CleanSpace and ground, Foamax, our foam insulation panel that helps control crawl space humidity, and SmartDrain, a plumping system that alerts the homeowner if there is a leak. The homeowner happily agreed with Lance's suggestions, and his design was sent to our Foreman, Kiko P.

In a couple of months, Kiko and his crew arrived at the home for the installation. They installed 884 sqft of CleanSpace, 768 sqft of Drainage Matting, 224 sqft of Foamax, and 1 SmartDrain. After they were done with the installation, they cleaned up their equipment and left the home.

Todd and Wendie of Danube, MN, had significant issues with their damp basement, which had cracking and bowing walls. They decided to call American Waterworks for a FREE estimate, and shortly after the appointment was scheduled, our Design Specialist, Shane, headed out to the property. 

Following the consultation and proposed solutions of waterproofing and foundation support, Todd scheduled an appointment for installation.

Our Foreman, Luis, and his production crew started the installation by implementing our PowerBrace Wall System and GeoLock Wall Anchors to correct the foundation issues. 7 PowerBraces and 11 GeoLocks were installed. The PowerBrace system is an I-shaped beam that stabilizes and helps straighten the bow of the wall over time. The PowerBrace system is drilled into the home's support beams and the concrete on which the home lies. The Geolock system stabilizes foundation walls by anchoring them to the hard-packed virgin soil beyond the foundation. 

Next, the crew broke out the concrete floor perimeter and formed a trench. In the trench, our team installed our WaterGuard System. Our WaterGuard is a patented below-floor drain that rests in a drainage bed on top of the foundation footing. It is our most commonly used drain system because of its resistance to water clogs, easy-to-access service ports, and can collect leaking water from basement walls. They also installed our TripleSafe Sump Pump System. The TripleSafe Sump Pump System has three levels of protection to solve all water problems a homeowner may experience.

Along with the TripleSafe Sump Pump, there is a battery backup that helps in cases where power is lost in a home. The battery will keep the pumps draining any excess water build-up. To complete the WaterGuard project, Luis and his team covered the open gaps with rock and replaced the concrete. 

The team then proceeded to install the CleanSpace wall System around the perimeter of the basement. Our CleanSpace Wall System is attached to the walls with plastic fasteners, so it never falls. It also prevents humidity from invading the walls and gives the basement a clean and bright appearance, with a 25-year warranty.

Inside the trench is where our crew installed our WaterGuard, which is designed to prevent water clogs and catch water leaking from basement walls, which leads to the sump pump. To complete the installation, our team filled the open-floor gaps with river rock and applied fresh, new concrete over them, leaving the basement looking nice and clean. Cynthia said she was very happy with the completed work and the crew was so caring and polite!
