Dawn N. in Garvin, MN contacted American Waterworks after seeing one of our commercials on TV. She had water seeping into the basement, and she wanted to permanently fix the problem. We sent one of our Design Specialists, Reed Hudson, to evaluate the situation and propose a unique solution for her home. After Reed’s inspection, he was able to recommend a combination of our waterproofing products. Dawn approved of the plan and moved forward with the project.
Our Foreman, Matt Zeller, and his production team began the waterproofing project by removing the concrete around the perimeter of the basement floor to create a trench. Then, they laid the WaterGuard in the trench and installed a SuperSump sump pump. They filled back the gaps with rock and then replaced the concrete around the sump pump and over the WaterGuard. Water now properly drains to the sump pump through the WaterGuard. The water is then expelled from the home through the discharge line. Dawn’s peace of mind has been restored, and she can now enjoy a dry, healthier basement for years to come!
A homeowner from Garvin, MN, was walking across the main level of her home when she noticed an area that seemed to be sagging lower than the rest of the floor. She was immediately concerned about what this could mean for the structural integrity of the home. One day she found herself at the Marshall Home Show, where she met our Design Specialist, Ryan P. The two got to chatting about her concerns for her home, and Ryan informed her that American Waterworks offers FREE, no-obligation estimates into homeowners' concerns. The two found a day for Ryan to come out to the home.
On the day of the inspection, Ryan got right to work inspecting the basement and the foundation of the home. When he finished, he met up with the homeowner to deliver his recommendations. Ryan explained that floors over basements sag due to many reasons, including inadequate or shifting support beams beneath floor joists and lumber deterioration due to mold and rot. For this reason, Ryan recommended our SmartJacks. Our SmartJack system provides solid support for sagging and undersized beams, restoring stability and straightness to sagging floor joists. Once installed, SmartJack posts can correct problems such as sloping and overly springing floors, interior wall cracks, and out-of-level door frames. Because of its design, SmartJacks can be adjusted over time to provide additional straightening and leveling if necessary. The homeowner was thrilled with Ryan's recommendation and liked the idea of having a system that could be adjusted down the road.
On the day of the project, our Foreman, Gabriel R, led his team through the installation of 10 SmartJacks throughout the basement of the home. Now, our customer can breathe easy knowing her foundation worries are in the past!

In the trench, our team installed our WaterGuard System, which serves as an underground drain that leads to outside and prevents water clogs. Next, our team installed our SuperSump Plus M53 sump pump, which is made to keep basements clean and dry for long periods. To complete the project, our team covered the open gaps with rock and replaced the concrete.

In the trench, our team installed our WaterGuard, which serves as an underground drain in connection with the sump pump, prevents water and mud clogs, and collects seeping water from basement walls. To complete the installation, Tremaine and his crew filled the open gaps with river rock and applied new concrete over it. Jen and Don were happy with the project and had a great experience from start to finish!
A homeowner from Dundee, MN, was at a home improvement store one day when he spotted an at-home radon gas testing kit. He didn't know much about the dangerous gas but decided to test his home nonetheless. He was surprised when the test came back with higher than normal levels. The homeowner was uneasy about his family breathing in the gas and decided to consult a specialist about the problem. When he found our website, he signed up for his FREE estimate, and several weeks later, Kevin B, one of our Design Specialists, was headed to the home.
Knowing the home had high radon levels, Kevin focused his inspection on finding a good space for a mitigation system, should the customer want to move forward. When he finished his inspection, he met with the homeowner. He explained that radon gas is a radioactive gas that comes from the breakdown of soil around your home's foundation. It finds its way into your space through holes and cracks in the foundation, silently wreaking havoc on the lining of the lungs. Kevin went on to say that radon gas is the second leading cause of lung cancer behind cigarette smoking, claiming 21,000 lives annually. Kevin could tell the homeowner was growing uneasy, so he reassured him that while the situation was serious, American Waterworks could help. Kevin strongly urged the homeowner to address the problem with our radon mitigation system. He explained that a typical radon mitigation system consists of a large-diameter plastic pipe that connects the air beneath your foundation to the outdoors. An in-line fan sucks radon-rich air from beneath your foundation and expels this hazardous air to the exterior. Instead of entering your basement or other living space area through numerous gaps and cracks in the foundation, radon gas is extracted from beneath your foundation before it can permeate into interior space. He went on to say that, when installed by an experienced professional, a mitigation system will lower the concentration of radon in the interior of the home to minimal levels recommended by the EPA and other health and safety agencies. The homeowner was relieved to know that Kevin had a solution for his household. He needed a few weeks to think about the project but ended up calling Kevin to schedule an installation date.
Our Foreman, Geno M, and his team arrived bright and early on the day of the project and got right to work. When they had finished installing the system, our homeowner was thrilled to know that his home was well on the way to circulating fresh air!
