Bowing Foundation Wall Stabilized in Eau Claire, WI

Solution

In about a week, our Design Specialist, Dustin L., arrived at the home to provide a thorough inspection, answer any questions, and provide the best solution for the homeowner. During the inspection, Dustin explained to the homeowner that one of the most common causes of foundation issues is hydrostatic pressure. Hydrostatic pressure is pressure exerted by a fluid due to the force of gravity. When it rains or floods, and water saturates the soil surrounding the foundation, that water puts tremendous pressure against the foundation walls, often leading to cracks and bowing. In about two months, our Foreman, Luis D., and his crew arrived at the home. The crew installed 11 GeoLock, and those were installed first by drilling holes several feet away from the foundation. An earth anchor is then placed inside the hole and is attached to the interior wall. Both anchor plates are connected by a small steel rod with would run through the ground. Once the wall plate has been tightened, the crew fills in the holes, cleans up their equipment, and leaves the home.
