In Fifty Lakes, MN, a homeowner came upon an article that discusses the dangers radon poses in homes. Through the article, he learned that radon is a by-product of uranium, which can be found in soil. As uranium decays, it produces radium, which eventually turns into radon gas. Since uranium is in soil, it makes radon unavoidable. Worried that his family was breathing in the toxic fumes, he decided to look into services in the area. He came upon our website and was pleased to see our Before and After photos of our radon mitigation system. He quickly contacted us to claim his FREE estimate and scheduled an appointment with our Design Specialist.
In a couple of weeks, our Design Specialist, James N., arrived at the home to start the radon monitoring test. He set this test up in the lowest level of the home and explained to the homeowner that the test would need to run for at least 48 hours. James reassured the homeowner that his decision to have the home tested was good as we cannot see, touch, smell, taste, or hear radon. He further explained that we offer a radon mitigation system that uses a large-diameter plastic pipe that suctions out the air beneath your foundation and vents it outdoors. The homeowner was thankful for James's permanent solution to prevent dangerous radon levels in the future.
In about a week, the test results came back above 4 pCi/L, which is the Environmental Protection Agency's required action level for radon. The homeowner contacted us to schedule the installment of our radon mitigation system.
In a couple of weeks, our Radon Sales & Service Technician, Jackson P., arrived at the home for the installation. When he finished installing the system, the homeowner was relieved he no longer had to worry about breathing in the toxic fumes.

In less than a week, our Design Specialist, Michel R., arrived at the home for the inspection. During the inspection, he took a close look at the layout of the home and began working on a detailed solution for the best placement of our radon mitigation system. Michel recommended installing the system in the exterior of the home and having it connect to the concrete floor in the basement with a PVC pipe. This is designed this way so that our system can suction out the radon gas and expel it above the roofline before it can enter the home. Confident in our team, the homeowner decided to move forward with the project.

During the inspection, he took a close look at the layout of the home and worked closely with the homeowner on the best placement of our radon mitigation system. A homeowner from Mazeppa, MN, was chatting with his neighbor one morning when his neighbor informed him that he had his home tested for radon gas. The homeowner knew very little about the dangerous gas but decided perhaps he should have his home tested as well. His neighbor had told him that American Waterworks offers radon testing in MN, so the homeowner decided to call us and schedule his FREE estimate. In the meantime, the homeowner headed to his local home improvement store to buy an at-home radon test. When the results came back high, he was confident that he had made the right choice by contacting American Waterworks.
Several weeks later, our Design Specialist, Mac C, headed out to the home. He started the appointment by scouting the best place for a radon mitigation system for this home. When he finished, he met with the homeowner. Mac began by explaining that the homeowner had done the right thing by testing his home and calling us. Mac went on to say that the tricky thing about radon is that because it's odorless, colorless, and tasteless, it's impossible to know whether or not your home is infested without proper testing. Mac then went on to say that because the levels in the home were well above 4 pCi/Ls, he was recommending a radon mitigation system be installed in the home. He then explained that a typical radon mitigation system consists of a large-diameter plastic pipe that connects the air beneath your foundation to the outdoors. An in-line fan sucks radon-rich air from beneath your foundation and expels this hazardous air to the exterior. Instead of entering your basement or other living space area through numerous gaps and cracks in the foundation, radon gas is extracted from beneath your foundation before it can permeate into interior space. The homeowner liked the sound of Mac's plan and scheduled the job for some time later.
Eventually, the day of the installation rolled around. Our Foreman, Dakota M, was able to successfully install the radon mitigation system without any worries. Now, our homeowner can be confident that only the healthiest air is circulating in his home.
