Failing Wall And Water Leakage in Basement Fixed in Waseca, MN

A homeowner in Waseca, MN, had water leaking into his basement and cracks forming along the walls which concerned him about the potential damage to his home. He quickly began searching for services in the area and came upon American Waterworks through our website. After browsing our Before and After photos of Waterproofing Basements and Foundation Repair, he contacted us to claim his FREE estimate and scheduled a date with one of our experts.

Our Design Specialist, Lance S., arrived at the home and conducted a thorough inspection of the basement. He explained that one of the causes of a wet basement is the "clay bowl" effect. When excavated soil is replaced around a completed foundation, it isn't as dense and tightly packed as undisturbed soil further away. As a result, when it rains, water collects in the soil, putting pressure on foundation walls and causing it to crack. Water then forces itself through the cracks into the basement. To address this issue, Lance recommended our GeoLock anchors,CarbonArmor, WaterGuard, TripleSafe Sump Pump, IceGuard, and CleanSpace. The homeowner was happy to proceed, and Lance's design was sent to our Foreman, Diego B.

Our Foreman, Jesus C., and Diego B., and their crew arrived at the home on separate days for the installations. To waterproof the basement, the crew installed 127 feet of WaterGuard. These are placed around the perimeter of the basement by hammering into the floor. Next, rocks are placed in the holes, and the WaterGuard is positioned on the top, connecting to the sump pump. Once set, the concrete is poured back on top of the installation. The TripleSafe sump pump provides three levels of protection for your basement. One pump is installed at the lowest level, capable of discharging 2,200 gallons of water per hour. The second pump is installed a little bit higher to act as a backup if the primary pump fails or is overwhelmed with heavy water. The third pump is installed at the highest level in case of power outages. Additionally, two IceGuards were installed outside the home to eject water away from the foundation. Our IceGuards are designed not to freeze during cold temperatures, unlike traditional discharge lines. The crew also installed CleanSpace, a plastic wall vapor barrier, on the walls to prevent mold growth. In total, they installed a total of 127 feet of CleanSpace. For foundation repair, the crew installed 18 GeoLock wall anchors. The anchors are installed by digging a hole in undisturbed soil several feet away from the foundation. The first GeoLock anchor is placed inside and attached to the interior wall, with both anchors connected by a small steel pole. The GeoLocks permanently stabilize the foundation walls and can be adjusted to straighten the walls over time. Finally, 7 CarbonArmors were installed on the remaining walls. The installation process involves cleaning the walls, applying epoxy, and securing the CarbonArmor straps on top. After everything was installed, the crew cleaned up their equipment and left the home, leaving the homeowner with peace of mind.

PowerBrace Installed to Stabilize Wall in Saint Joseph, MN

A homeowner in Saint Joseph, MN, had noticed staircase cracks had formed along her basement walls and was concerned they would continue to grow, leading to further instability. She looked into services in the area and came upon one of our ads on social media. She took it upon herself to browse through our website and was impressed with our "Before and After" photos. Soon after browsing our website, she decided to contact us to claim her FREE estimate.

Our Design Specialist, Daniel R., arrived at the home in several weeks and assessed the basement. He explained to the homeowner that one of the most common causes of foundation damage is hydrostatic pressure. Hydrostatic pressure is the pressure exerted by fluid. When the soil surrounding the foundation gets saturated with water, it puts tremendous pressure on the walls. Once the pressure exceeds what the wall can withstand, it is common to see bowing, sheeting, and cracks in the foundation walls. Due to this reason, Daniel recommended our PowerBrace. He explained to the homeowner that our PowerBrace is installed by first cutting the braces so that it fits the height of the wall. Then, the top of the brace is attached to a floor joist at the top of the wall. The crew would then straighten the brace and attach it to the floor. Alongside stabilizing the foundation walls, our PowerBrace has the potential to straighten the walls over time. The homeowner was grateful for Daniel's explanation and agreed to his suggestion. Daniel's plans were then sent to our Foreman, Diego B., for the installation.

In a couple of months, Diego and his crew arrived at the home. They installed a total of three of our PowerBrace. Once they were done with the project, they cleaned up their equipment and left the home.

Settling Sidewalk Lifted in Chaska, MN

A homeowner in Chaska, MN, was concerned for his sunken sidewalk as it was a trip hazard and made his home visually unappealing so he decided to look for concrete lifting services in the area. The homeowner found our website and was impressed with our 5-star reviews and decided to contact us to schedule his FREE estimate.

In a couple of weeks, our Design Specialist, Nate B., arrived at the home to answer any questions the homeowner had and to conduct a proper inspection of the sidewalk. During his inspection, he also noticed that the front walkway had been uneven causing gaps to form along the joints. After the inspection, Nate created a proposal recommending PolyLevel to lift the concrete and NexusPro to seal the joints. After reviewing the proposal, the homeowner happily agreed and scheduled a date for the installation.

In about a month, our Foreman, Troy J., and his crew arrived at the home for the installation. They began lifting the concrete by first drilling small holes into the slab and playing the injection ports. PolyLevel is then injected beneath the slab. Our PolyLevel is made of expanding properties that it waterproof, highly durable, and long-lasting making it an effective solution for sinking concrete. Once the slabs have been lifted to the desired level, the crew uses cement to seal the holes. Lastly, the crew uses NexusPro, our silicone-based sealant that provides flexibility to withstand harsh weather conditions, to seal the joints. After they were done with the project, they cleaned up their equipment and left the home.

Sinking Walkway Lifted in Plymouth, MN

A homeowner in Plymouth, MN had an uneven sidewalk and was worried that it was a tripping hazard. She decided it was best to address the issue right away rather than wait, so she started searching for concrete lifting services in the area. She found our website and was impressed with our 5-star reviews and decided to contact us to schedule her FREE estimate.

In a couple of weeks, one of our Design Specialists arrived at the home to assess the sidewalk. He informed the homeowner that one of the common causes of a sinking sidewalk is soil compaction and settling. When a soil's load-bearing capacity is exceeded, the soil beneath the concrete expands and contracts, causing the concrete slab to sink and heave. For this reason, our Design Specialist suggested our PolyLevel to lift the concrete and NexusPro to seal the cracks and joints. The homeowner was grateful for his explanation and decided to move forward with the project.

In a couple of months, our Foreman, Troy J., and his crew arrived at the home for the installation. The concrete is lifted by first drilling small holes into the slab. Then, the injection ports and installed, and PolyLevel is injected beneath the concrete slab. Once it has been lifted the crew will ensure that it is leveled before sealing the small holes with concrete. Lastly, the crew uses NexusPro to seal the cracks and joints. Once they were done, they cleaned their equipment and left the home.
