Bridget in Ossian, IA was trying to sell her home that she had lived in for 25 years. The buyer was concerned about a cracked wall in the garage and wanted to have it inspected. Bridget’s realtor got her in touch with American Waterworks to help with her foundation problem. One of our Design Specialists, Rick Weber, went onsite to give her a FREE inspection and design a solution.
Rick recommended that she have us install PowerBraces along the damaged wall to permanently stabilize it. Bridget and the buyer agreed to have the project completed, so they scheduled the installation.
Our production team installed the four PowerBraces in the garage and left the homeowner with a tightening kit to continue straightening the wall over time. Our foundation repair systems are backed by a lifetime warranty, so she is confident in their decision to go with American Waterworks. The homeowner is pleased with the results and she is glad her foundation wall in now secure.

A homeowner in Ossian, IA was concerned when he went down to his basement and noticed a large puddle of water that had formed on the floor. He found that the issue was coming in from multiple sides of the house and spread to cover a larger area of the floor. He decided that something needed to be done to prevent further damage to the space. He contacted American Waterworks and we set him up with one of our FREE no-obligation estimates. Once we received more information on what the problem was, we sent over Design Specialist Dustin Amenda to the home. Dustin knew just how the problem had started and explained that water could easily enter through any cracks and pores in concrete floors, like the ones in the homeowner's basement. As a solution, Dustin recommended our WaterGuard system to be installed to catch future incoming water and send it away to the sump pump. The homeowner agreed to the plans and when one of our Foremen, Jeremiah Fischer, and his crew arrived they carefully installed the WaterGuard. The homeowner was relieved to have a way to fix the problem and happy he called American Waterworks.

A homeowner in Onalaska, WI, came upon our blog post discussing the dangerous health risks of radon and was worried that his family was unknowingly breathing in the toxic fumes. He learned that radon is a by-product of uranium, a naturally occurring radioactive element that breaks down in soil. Over time, as the soil decays, it breaks down into radium and eventually turns into radon gas. Radon gas is extremely hazardous, as it is the second-leading cause of lung cancer. Soon after learning this information, he decided to sign up for his FREE estimate, and a few weeks later, our Design Specialist, Will R., headed out to the home.
When Will arrived, he tested for radon by placing a continuous radon monitoring test in the lowest level of the home. The test works to gauge and record radon levels in the home in 48 hours. Will also informed the homeowner that he would consider adding a Radon Mitigation system to the home if the test results are above 4pCi/L, which is the Environmental Protection Agency's required action level. He also explained that if the test results were not at a dangerous level, it was always good to have your home regularly tested for radon gas. Unfortunately, we cannot smell, taste, see, touch, or hear radon, which makes it extremely important to test for radon gas levels every 2 years. After a few weeks, the test results came back above 4 pCi/L, and the homeowner contacted Will and scheduled the installation.
In about a month, our Foreman, Dakota M., and his crew traveled to the home for the installation. Our radon mitigation system is a large plastic pipe with an in-line fan that sucks radon-rich air beneath your foundation and spews it outdoors. After the installation, our customer was pleased to have clean air!
