A homeowner from Rochester, MN, was doing laundry one evening when he noticed a large crack running lengthwise on his foundation wall. He was worried that the issue would impact the safety of his home, so he decided to find a reputable foundation repair contractor in Rochester, MN. Through recommendations, he found American Waterworks and signed up for his FREE estimate.
Several weeks later, Dustin L, one of our Design Specialists, was scheduled to head out to the home. When he arrived, the customer directed him to the wall in question, and he began his estimate. When he finished, he met with the homeowner to discuss his findings. Dustin explained that foundation walls are designed to withstand loads from above, not from the side. So when the pressure on the wall exceeds what the wall can withstand, it's not uncommon for homeowners to see cracking, bowing, sliding in at the bottom, and/or tilting inward at the top. Dustin went on to say that, while the diagnosis is serious, the homeowner shouldn't be too worried because he had a solution. Dustin urged the homeowner to consider our GeoLock anchors. This innovative system counteracts the pressure being put on the wall by anchoring the wall to the hard-packed, undisturbed soil beyond the foundation of the home. Dustin finished by saying that this system can be tightened over time to provide further stability to the wall in question. The homeowner was thrilled with Dustin's solution and scheduled the project on the spot.
Several weeks later, our Foreman, Jesus C, and his team were headed out to the home. After a long day, they had successfully installed 6 of our GeoLock anchors in the space. Now, our customer has renewed faith in her largest investment!
A homeowner in Rochester, MN, noticed that his back walkway had begun sinking causing an uneven platform with a risk of tripping. Because he often had people coming over, he decided to have the issue addressed before it got worse by asking his family if they knew any good contractors in the area. He was recommended American Waterworks and he soon contacted us to schedule his FREE estimate.
In a couple of weeks, our Design Specialist, Brad W., arrived at the home to conduct a thorough inspection of the walkway and to answer any questions the homeowner had. During his inspection, he explained to the homeowner that one of the common causes of sinking concrete is soil washout. When it rains or floods, water moves through the ground, washing away the support soils holding up the concrete slabs. Over time, gaps and voids are created in the soil causing the slab to sink. For this reason, Brad recommended PolyLevel, a high-density poly foam formula that is designed to lift and level concrete. The homeowner happily agreed and scheduled a date for the installation.
In about a month, our Foreman, Jordan S., and his crew arrived at the home to carry out the installation. They began by drilling small holes into the slabs and inserting the injection ports. PolyLevel is then injected beneath the slab, filling in the empty gaps in the soil. Once the slabs have been lifted, the crew ensures it is at the desired level before sealing the holes with cement. After the crew was done with the installation, they cleaned up their equipment and left the home.
