A Winona, MN, homeowner had been keeping an eye on his basement wall for some time now. He had been aware of a large crack running the length of one of the walls and was ready to find a solution. He took to the internet to search for 'structural foundation repair near me' and quickly found our website. He was impressed with the other foundation repair jobs we had completed in his area and decided to claim his FREE estimate. Several weeks later, our Design Specialist, Michel R, was headed out to the home.
Michel's inspection was scheduled for 3 hours, during which time he inspected the basement, the basement walls, and the exterior of the home. When he finished, he met with the homeowner to deliver his recommendations and answer any questions he had. Michel began by saying that foundation walls are designed to withstand loads from the top, not the side. So when the pressure on the side of a wall exceeds what it can withstand, homeowners will commonly see cracking, bowing, sliding in at the bottom of the wall, and/or tiling inward at the top. Michel reassured the homeowner that while the diagnosis might seem a bit scary, he had just the solution to fix the problem: our PowerBrace system. Michel explained that these steel I-beams will stabilize the wall in its current position without any further adjustments. Over time, the PowerBraces can be tightened to make bowing or tilting walls straighter and more vertical. The homeowner loved the idea of having a system that could move through the home's various stages of life and signed on the spot.
On the day of the project, our Foreman, Diego B, and his team successfully installed 2 PowerBraces on the problem wall, restoring our customer's trust in her home!

In Winona, MN, a homeowner was looking for a way to spruce up the front of her home. Over the years, her concrete patio in the front of her home had begun sinking. It was pulling away from the foundation of the home, and had become uneven in various placing, leading to dangerous trip hazards and standing water. The homeowner was curious as to what caused concrete slab sink, so she asked her Service Technician, Sam V, at her Annual Maintenance visit. Sam explained that concrete sink occurs when the soil below the foundation is weakened. Excess rain can wash soil out, extreme heat can dry soil up and shrink it, or the soil could have been poorly compacted before the concrete was poured. Sam went on to say that American Waterworks could repair concrete sink using our PolyLevel injection. Poly level is an expanding polyurethane foam that is injected below concrete slabs, lifting the slab back into place as it expands, filling voids left by soil erosion. Sam went on to say that he would recommend following the lift up with our NexusPro, a silicone-based joint sealant specially designed to stand up against harsh weather conditions, UV rays, and shifting concrete to defend the vulnerable soil below. Sam showed the homeowner before and after concrete repair images, and answered other questions she had about the process. When she was satisfied, the two worked together to set a date for installation.
On the day of the project our Foreman, Pat B, and his Co-Foreman lifted the concrete back into place, sealed the joints and cracks, and restored our customers curb appeal.
