Basement Leaks and Bowing Walls Solved in Minnetonka, MN
Challenge
In Minnetonka, MN, a homeowner was growing concerned about his basement. He had an older home, and knew that overtime, he could expect things to break down. What he didn't expect was standing puddles and worrisome cracks in his basement walls. Unsure of what causes foundation issues, and worried about what this could mean for the future of his home, he decided to search for basement leak repair in his area. After finding American Waterworks, he perused out basement waterproofing images of projects we had done in the past. Delighted to find out we also address foundation walls, he decided to book his FREE estimate, and set a time for our Design Specialist to assess his space.
Solution
When our Design Specialist arrived he wasted no time jumping into his inspection. After completing his comprehensive evaluation, he was ready to make his recommendations for restoring the space. First, our Design Specialist wanted to address the unwanted water in the space, and informed the homeowner that there was evidence of water entering through the basement floor joints, so he was recommended our water guard for basements. Our WaterGuard is a discreet interior perimeter drainage system that sits below the basement floor, and works to give water entering the space a channel to flower freely to a disposal site. While our Design Specialist was evaluating the space, he noted that the basement lacked a means of disposing of excess water, so he recommended our SuperSump sump pump, an effective and economical decision for riding your basement of water. To address the bowing walls, our Design Specialist recommended our GeoLock wall anchors. He explained that bowing walls occur when the pressure on the side of the wall is too much for it to withstand. GeoLocks remedy this issue by anchoring the failing wall to hard-packed undisturbed soil beyond the home. The homeowner was impressed with our solution, and decided to schedule the project that same day.
When the day of the project rolled around, our Foreman, Victor R, and his team made the trip out to Minnetonka. When they arrived, they divided and conquered. Half the crew headed inside to begin jackhammering away at the perimeter of the basement to lay the WaterGuard, while the other half of the crew began to dig holes in the yard for the external anchor placement. After the WaterGuard was laid indoors, the SuperSump was assembled, installed, and connected tot he WaterGuard. With holes dug on the exterior for the anchors, a crew member began drilling holes through the foundation for the thread rod to connect the interior and exterior Earth anchors. To finish the project, the WaterGuard is covered in a fresh layer of cement, and the interior Earth anchor is installed. Now, our customer can enjoy the most his home has to offer without worries of sinking home value and safety.
