Basement Water Repair in Detroit Lakes, Mn
Challenge
In Detroit Lakes, MN, a homeowner was growing worried about her basement. Over the years, a certain corner of her basement would taken on water after a heavy rainfall. It wasn't a huge amount of water, but it was enough to concern the homeowner. The homeowner took to the internet to search for the best waterproofing basement companies, and quickly found American Waterworks and decided to claim her FREE estimate.
Solution
About a week later, James Nelson, one of our Fargo Design Specialists, was headed out to the home. When James arrived he wasted no time getting into his inspection. When he concluded, he and the homeowner sat down to discuss the findings and next steps. James began by saying the homeowner did the right thing by contacting us. Basement water is tricky, and if left unaddressed for too long it can cause more serious, and expensive, damage. James stated that he found no evidence of water intrusion other than in the problem corner, and therefore was recommending two of our products to address the issue. First, James wanted to use our WaterGuard basement french drain system. This unique drain is discreet, sitting below the floor of the basement, but atop the footing of the foundation. It works to give water entering through the walls a channel to flow freely to an external disposal site, and keep it off the floor. While James was in the basement he noted that it did not have a means of getting rid of water, so his final recommendation was our TripleSafe sump pump; our most reliable sump system in our lineup. This powerful machine provides three levels of protection for your basement and peace of mind, using two powerful Zoeller pumps to defend your space. In addition, the homeowner added our UltraSump battery backup for extra protection incase of power-outage. This battery back can pump 11,500 gallons or more when fully charged! The homeowner was relieved to know that her basement could be saved, and decided to sign for the project that day.
A month later, our Foreman, Kingsley, and his team were at the home to install the system. They began by jackhammering away at the perimeter of the leaky corner. Then, they placed the WaterGuard and covered it with drainage stone to help water flow. Next they moved onto assembling the sump system and connecting it to the water guard. To finish the project, they covered both the triple safe sump pump and the water guard with a fresh layer of concrete to hold it in place. Now our customer can move forward knowing the her home is as healthy as can be!
