A homeowner in Balaton, MN, was down in her basement doing laundry when she noticed the large cracks forming along her basement walls. Eric had informed the homeowner that the moisture content of the soil caused it to expand and put pressure on the wall. When that pressure exceeds what the wall can withstand, it is common to see cracking, bowing, tilting inwards, and sliding at the bottom of the foundation wall. Eric suggested our PowerBrace, steel-I beams that will stabilize walls in their current position. The PowerBrace is customized to fit the height of the wall. Then, the top of each brace is attached to the top of the wall using a specially designed bracket that is bolted to the floor joist. This bracket contains a large-diameter bolt for adjusting and tightening after the installation. The steel-I beam is then straightened before it is attached to the floor. Once it is attached to the floor, the brackets that anchor each I-beam to a floor are tightened. This forces a tilted or bowed wall back to its vertical and straight position. It can also be tightened over time to make bowing or tilting walls straighter. The homeowner was thankful for Eric's explanation and solution and agreed to his plan.

Our Foreman, Jose Castillo, and his production team started the installation by digging five holes outside of the home and inserting a medal rod in each hole from the exterior soil to the interior foundation. Next, they screwed on and tightened one of our GeoLock Wall Anchors on the ends of each rod to stabilize and straighten the wall back into it's normal position. To complete the installation, Jose and his crew backfilled the holes and replaced the soil. Joy couldn't believe how quickly our crew completed the project!
