A Blooming Prairie, MN, homeowner was growing worried about his basement. After every storm, the homeowner noted patches of standing water in his basement. The homeowner worried that the basement leaks could be a sign of a bigger issue, so he decided to take action. Having no idea who fixes leaking basement, he began to look for water basement repair in the area, and quickly found American Waterworks. Impressed with our 4.8/5 star rating, he decided to claim his FREE estimate, and several weeks later, our Design Specialist, Michel R, was headed to the home.
When Michel arrived, he dove into his inspection, paying close attention to the areas of the basement which showed evidence of past water intrusion. When Michel was satisfied, he sat down with the homeowner to go over his findings. Michel began by stating that the homeowner did the right things by contacting us, explaining that when it comes to basement leaks, addressing the issues right away helps catch issues before they become larger problems and more expensive. Michel continued, stating that we offer a variety of water in the basement solutions, but in this case, he was recommending only three. First, Michel wanted to use our WaterGuard, our basement french drain system. This unique drain is desecrate, sitting below the floor of the basement, but atop the footing of the foundation, keeping it out of the 'mud-zone' where similar drains tend to clog. It works to provide water entering through the floor a channel to flow freely to a disposal site. Second, Michel recommended our CleanSpace vapor barrier; a 100% waterproof plastic vapor barrier, perfect for finished basement walls. The CleanSpace is installed directly onto the wall, and fed into the CleanSpace, giving water trickling down basement walls a channel to the WaterGuard and then a disposal site. Finally, Michel recommended our TripleSafe sump pump, the most reliable system in our lineup, providing three levels of protection for your home. While in the basement, Michel also noted that one of the walls appeared to be bowing inward, a clear indicator of foundation failure. Michel informed the homeowner that foundation walls are designed to withstand the weight of your home from above, and not from the side. When side pressure on the wall becomes too much for the walls to withstand, it's not uncommon to see bowing or tilting. Michel recommended our GeoLock wall anchors. This award-winning system counteracts bowing walls by anchoring it to the hard-packed undisturbed soil beyond the foundation. The homeowner was pleased with Michel's evaluation and recommendations, but wasn't planning on a foundation repair, so he decided to ponder his options. A few weeks later, the homeowner called Michel with another set of questions, and when he felt they were properly answered, he scheduled his project.
A month or two later, our Foreman, Victor S, and his team effortlessly installed 43 sqft of WaterGuard and CleanSpace, 1 TripleSafe Sump Pump, and 7 GeoLock anchors throughout the basement. Now our customer can lay his worries for his basement to rest knowing his basement is properly defended!
