In Bismarck, North Dakota, a homeowner was battling foundation leaks leading to standing water, weeping walls, and foul odors. He was worried that the presence of excess water would lead to mold and mildew growth, and decided that he needed to look into foundation leak repair companies. While he searched for basement services near me, he quickly found American Waterworks based in Fargo, ND. He was quick to submit his request for a FREE estimate, and was soon scheduled with one of our Design Specialists, Ian Schultz.
During the appointment, Ian completed a thorough inspection of the basement, areas of concern, and the external foundation. When he completed, he sat down with the homeowner and informed him that the basement was in fact taking on water, as suspected. Ian went on to say that he believed the issue could be resolved with the help of 3 of our products. First, Ian recommended our CleanSpace vapor barrier, a 100% waterproof plastic liner that gets installed directly onto the unfinished basement walls. With an antimicrobial protection built in, it's the ideal choice for leaky basements, as it provides water entering the space a means to flow downward, and into our WaterGuard, Ian's second recommendation. Ian explained that this internal french drain is a descret, yet highly effective product, as it sits below the floor oft he basement. With the CleanSpace liner running directly into it, the WaterGuard provides water dripping from the wall, and coming up from the floor, a channel to flow to a disposal site such as a sump pump or discharge line. Finally, Ian recommended finishing a basement with a sump pump, more specifically, our SuperSump plus. The SuperSump Plus is an effective, yet economical decision for ridding your basement of unwanted water. This mighty machine boasts a powerful Zoeller 1/3 horsepower cast-iron pump, capable of pumping 2,220 gallons of water per hour at an 8-ft head out of the basement. The homeowner was pleased with Ian's recommendations, and decided to proceed with the project.
Our Fargo Production Manager, Clay Bassingthwaite, tackled the project in the coming weeks, effectively putting an end to our customers concerns of mold, mildew, and other airborne allergens.
