Crawl Space Repair Before & After Photos

This beautiful crawlspace transformation took place in a residence in Windom, MN.  The homeowner contacted us after experiencing a wet basement almost a year earlier and wanted to ensure that they would never have to experience that horror again.  

American Waterworks installed a complete waterproofing package in this home including our WaterGuard waterproofing system, a SmartSump and SuperSump Sump Pumps, two Everlast Basement Windows, spray foam insulation, TerraBlock crawlspace floor insulation, SilverGlo foam wall insulation and CleanSpace vapor barrier system.  

You will not find a home more energy efficient and moisture free than this one folks.  This homeowner can now laugh at the weather man when he calls for rain.   

Terry from Wheaton, MN had begun to notice a draft originating from the crawl space below his home. He was worried that his crawl space was the culprit behind high energy bills in the colder months. A homeowner in Hope, ND, decided to investigate the status of the crawl space in their home. As soon as they entered the crawlspace, dust and dirt erupted in their face. Disgusted with the status of the crawlspace, the homeowner wanted to encapsulate it. After seeing a before and after advertisment on Facebook, the homeowner decided to sign up for a FREE estimate with American Waterworks. We sent out our Design Specialist, Kole, to investigate the status of the crawlspace. Following his evaluation, Kole suggested utilizing Foamax and CleanSpace to close off the crawlspace. The homeowners agreed and we sent our crews out. Our Foreman, Domenic, and his crew started by removing the plastic and insulation on the walls. Then, the crew removed any debris in the crawl space. Once the crawlspace was cleaned out, the crew installed drainage matting and laid CleanSpace to seal the crawl space. Next, the crew applied Foamax on all interior foundation walls except where the crawlspace and basement meet. Finally, the crew applied SprayFoam on the exterior walls, except where the crawlspace and basement met. Sue, from Mapleton, ND, was growing more concerned over the state of her wet crawl space. If a a damp crawl space begins to rot, grow mold, or experience structural problems, issues can extend to all parts of the home. Sue wanted to understand why it was happening, make sure that the issue was corrected, and restore peace of mind moving forward. After deciding on our company, we set her up with a FREE inspection. A few weeks later, our Design Specialist, Ian, headed out to the property. Once he completed his walkthrough, he made recommendations as to how American Waterworks could help. 

First, Ian recommended our drainage matting; a dimpled matting that gets installed onto the floor of the crawl space, giving any excess water a route to flow through the space and be disposed of at an external site such as a drain or a sump system. Ian's second recommendation was our CleanSpace vapor barrier, a 100% waterproof tarp that works to trap any excess moisture in the space, redirecting it to the appropriate disposal site. Our customer agreed with the recommendations and work began shortly after. 

Our Foreman, Jeremiah, and his team ended up installing 1938 sqft of the CleanSpace and a 4' tall Half Wall System in the crawl space. They also worked on installing two of our SmartDrains throughout the crawl space. Our SmartDrains are made specifically to track down water and keep it from invading the crawl space. Sue was very grateful for our team's work to restore her peace of mind so she can enjoy her home without worrying about water intrusion!

Our production crew removed the debris from the crawl space and installed our CleanSpace vapor barrier system on the dirt floor and the sides of the crawl space. This helps to keep pests and moisture out, which reduces humidity. Then, they sprayed our spray foam insulation in the rim joists of the crawl space to completely seal off the space and prevent any pests or water from entering. Jill was pleased with the result and is glad she can enjoy a stable, healthier crawl space for years to come!
