We sent a Design Specialist to his home to inspect his crawl space and provide him with a personalized solution. Our Specialist recommended having our CleanSpace vapor barrier, spray foam rim joist insulation and SmartJacks installed. Allen agreed that our solution was the best fit for his needs, so he scheduled the installation.

Our production crew removed the debris from his crawl space and then installed the SmartJacks to support the floor beams and keep the floor above sturdy. Then, they installed our CleanSpace vapor barrier system on the dirt floor and the sides of the crawl space. This helps to keep pests and moisture out, which reduces humidity. Lastly, they sprayed our spray foam insulation in the rim joists of the crawl space to completely seal off the space and prevent any pests or water from entering. Larry, a homeowner in Langdon, ND, was growing more concerned about his wet crawl space. If a crawl space begins to rot, grow mold, or experience structural problems, issues can extend to all parts of the home. First, under the direction of one of our Fargo Foremen the team removed the insulation currently in the crawlspace. Then, after cleaning the space, they went ahead with installing Foamax insulated wall panels and spray foam around the rim joists. The Foamax provides comfort and energy bill savings, while making the walls look clean and bright. The spray foam seals and waterproofs the homeowner's crawl space. The crew proceeded to use CleanSpace to encapsulate the crawlspace to prevent moisture and mold from affecting the rest of the foundation. CleanSpace is a 100% waterproof plastic barrier that gets installed right onto the problem walls and works to catch water entering the space through cracks and holes in the wall. This also reduces the home's chances of being exposed to radon. Next the crew used drainage matting and CleanSpace to encapsulate the entire space.

They also installed our Smart Sump where the existing sump was, and created a discharge line out the south end of the home.  The SmartSump™ comes equipped with a cast-iron Zoeller® primary pump with the option of adding an UltraSump® Battery Backup Sump Pump. This sump pump is designed to fit with the CleanSpace® liner and has a sump alarm to ensure you always are aware of any water in your crawl space.

A homeowner from Halstad, MN, was worried about her crawl space. Over the years, her and her family's allergies had worsened, leading her to believe there were airborne allergens trapped in her home. She suspected the home's crawl space was to blame, so she began to look for crawl space repair near Halstad, MN, and quickly found American Waterworks. Ian began by saying that the crawl space needed some serious attention, so he recommended several of our products to fix the moisture issue. First, Ian recommended our CleanSpace and drainage matting combo, explaining that the CleanSpace is a 100% waterproof tarp-like material that gets installed directly on the crawl space walls, functioning to collect any moisture entering through the foundation downward and keeping it out of the space. The drainage matting is laid down on the floor of the space before the CleanSpace is applied, giving the water collected by the CleanSpace a channel to flow freely to a drain or sump system. Next, Ian informed the homeowner that the water needed a means of escaping the space, which is where our SuperSump Plus would come into play. This effective yet economical sump pump is engineered for your peace of mind, making it the perfect choice to rid the crawl space of unwanted water. Next, Ian stated that he believed the crawl space to be energy inefficient, meaning that the space was making it harder to regulate the temperature in the home, as both cold and hot air were finding their way in and out of the crawl space due to tiny cracks and holes. Ian wanted to fix this problem with our Foamax Wall Panels. Foamax is a polyisocyanurate foam insulation panel with a white foil finish on the front and a foil vapor barrier on the back. The wall insulation panel offers several benefits, such as high insulation value, creating a warmer space, and brightening the basement, and can be left exposed, meaning the basement or crawl space can remain unfinished. Lastly, Ian informed the homeowner that even spaces with the most comprehensive waterproofing systems can still develop moisture and mold problems and can even feel damp. This is due to concrete walls and floors constantly absorbing moisture from the soil, releasing it into the air of the basement. Ian's final recommendation is that our AprilAire dehumidifier creates healthy air and can reduce the number of viable viruses in the air to less than 1% in two days when set to 50% relative humidity. The homeowner was thankful that Ian was forthcoming about all of the issues in the space and decided to address them all.
